Momento Events: Stories in Spaces

STORY NO. 1 NAIL BITING
Today is the official launch of Momento Events, and a deep, full-on, no-safety-net dive into doing what I love. In honour of that (and my new brand’s brand-spanking new tagline “Stories in Spaces”), I’ve decided to share nine short mini-stories in this digital space.
STORY NO. 2 THE NAME
Momento is the name I arrived at after a lot of consultation, deep thought, and some pinot-grigio-fueled-dart throwing. Not kidding. (I was toying around with several other names…so there was only one thing to do! Print them all out and throw darts at them on the wall). Honestly, Momento is the name I chose because at the end of the day, event-planning (or at least the way I like to do it) is about creating moments and experiences people remember.
STORY NO. 3 STORIES IN SPACES
We’re event planners, but what we really do is help people and businesses tell stories in spaces. Sometimes it’s a story about love, family and connection, and sometimes it’s a story about culture, community, innovation or the future and sometimes it’s just about… FUN! We help people tell stories through food, mood, decor, entertainment, sound, lighting and innumerable experiential & curated moments.
STORY NO. 4 YELLOW
I love yellow. THIS yellow. Like a lot. That’s it. (I told you these stories would sometimes be short).
STORY NO. 5 CELEBRATING THE FAMILIAR & THE UNKNOWN
Whether it’s a night of catering to the familiar or discovering new tastes, sights and sounds, you know it’s going to be a good time. Take my story: I started my career at age 16 as an entrepreneur making and street vending jewellery. Then I got ‘serious’ and spend the next 25 years working for, and learning from, some of the best in the Canadian events space. Now, (with a lot more knowledge), I’m back to being as brave as that 16 year old girl and taking a second shot at doing what I really love to do on my own terms.
STORY NO. 6 THE MOOD
Clean, contemporary, classic, approachable and accessible. Momento’s story is black, white, grey with a pop of yellow…. Not golden yellow, not mustard yellow – bright, vibrant citrus yellow.
STORY NO. 7 WHAT WE DO
Events. Big ones, small ones. Backyard ones. Weddings, conferences, galas, product launches, fashion shows, AGM’s. We do them all. From Vancouver to Halifax. I want to deliver the best of the best wherever I am, while always paying homage to the cities that formed me and my local communities of Southern Georgian Bay, Muskoka & Northern Ontario. Curious? This journey has not been easy. I have had minor and major moments of self-doubt, but there’s one thing that’s kept me going. I really love what I do. And I’m grateful for the amazing friends and family that have rallied behind me and provided me the support to go ahead and take the leap. Wish me luck.
